Here is how this works in practice. Our car mounting work across Australia uses the full feature kit: hostess trays, hood mounts, suction-cup arrays (Filmtools and Matthews), side mounts, plus Russian Arm and Ultimate Arm camera cars for major commercial and feature work, freighted in from overseas when local units are booked out.

Gyro-stabilised Shotover F1 and K1 systems can be brought across from New Zealand (3-hour Sydney-Auckland flight) for car-to-car work.

Here is the breakdown. Australia's car-mount heritage is centred on the Mad Max films; Mad Max: Fury Road (Miller 2015) won six Oscars and was shot mainly in Namibia, with pick-up filming in Sydney.

The Matrix trilogy was made at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney, now Disney Studios Australia.
